Editor's choice-highly recommended. Ohio composer Jack Gallagher has crafted
a marvelous addition to the contemporary brass repertoire. The piece provides an active challenge to all
players without being overly difficult, and is extremely audience friendly. From its energetic, high
spirited opening to its pensive middle section and back again, this is the kind of new piece that brass

Johann Ernst Eberlin was court organist at the archepiscopal court in
Salzburg, Austria in 1726. His music was known and admired by Mozart who studied and copied many of
his works. This Toccata and Fugue is an excellent example of the academic or "correct" style of the
composition of the period and the mood and lively rhythmic figures are transcribed effectively for
brass by David Baldwin.
