Vives wanted to capture the spirit of adventure through the eyes of a child. The composer writes: "I attempted to capture
a certain childlike quality in the music. There are recognizable references to nursery rhymes throughout, the most noticeable
being Pop Goes the Weasel. It is written in traditional sonata form with 20th century tonalities. Quartal and
quintal harmonies are used throughout, as are jazz harmonies.

parts are quartal and quintal chords with a very syncopated tune. In other parts, there is a walking, sometimes chromatic

student. Good choice for adults as well.
