DAVID MAXWELL
Dr. David Maxwell holds degrees in both piano and organ from the University of Illinois. His principal organ
instruction was with Jerald Hamilton, and his piano study included work with Malcolm Bilson and Dean Sanders.
His composition instructors included Edwin London and Ben Johnston. Dr. Maxwell has played many solo recitals and has
performed with several chamber music groups including Musica Tricinia, the Ineluctable Modality (a vocal ensemble
which performed avant garde music), and the Saint George Chamber Players, and has played with the Portland Symphony
Orchestra and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.
Having previously taught at Western Illinois University and at the University of Southern Maine, he currently serves
as Minister of Music at State Street Church, UCC, Portland, Maine and teaches and composes in his Scarborough (Maine)
studio. Publishers of his organ compositions include Manduca Music Publications, Warner Brothers Publications,
MorningStar Music, the Hartford chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and Zimbel Press.
